Cannonball down the yellow line
Headed East, losing time.
How many miles we got left?
You’re back home getting your degree,
explaining me to your family-
It’s been a rocky start, but he’s awful sweet.
I love you but damn,
I love you but damn.
Drove all day for a cancelled show.
Slept in the van, nowhere to go.
At least tomorrow I’ll see the coast.
Getting trashed, losing sleep,
gas station food to eat.
The closest thing I’d ever felt to free.
I love you but damn,
I love you but damn-
I guess I’ll learn to love myself someday.
I love you but damn,
I love you but damn-
I’ve gotta learn to love myself someday.
Well it’s kind of the same out here,
which is kinda what I feared.
Proof I’m not looking in the mirror.
Drove all night till the engine stalled
pulled it together for a call-
straight to voicemail, rambling on...
I love you but damn,
I love you but damn-
I guess I’ll learn to love myself someday.
I love you but damn,
I love you but damn-
I’ve gotta learn to love myself someday.
But I don’t even know what state I’m in
sorry you’re sleeping alone again.
I passed out in the back seat
Dreamed of you in the dry heat.
I don’t even know what state I’m in.
Lost my phone in Reno, calling from a friend’s.
Sorry if it’s late there,
It’s not like I don’t care.
But I don’t even know what state I’m in.
I don’t even know what state I’m in.
I don’t even know what state I’m in.
I don’t even know...
I love you but damn,
I love you but damn-
I kinda lose myself when you’re so far away.
I love you but damn,
I love you but damn-
I guess I’ll learn to love myself someday.
I’ve gotta learn to love myself someday.
I guess I’ll learn to love myself,
I’ve gotta learn to love myself someday.

I'm going to say Beatlesque. Not for the arrangement. That is something unique to the record and really shines on headphones. Such a great mix! No, the B word is because each song has such a rock solid but never ever cloying melodic hook. You may find yourself whistling. Singing along! And then there's the guitar shredding! Grant Blankenship

Genuinely haven't been this excited to find an artist in a long time. Listened to Black Is on repeat for most of last year but Masterpiece from this album is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've heard. That 'all I think about is you' sample that comes in about halfway through and the way it works with the other vocals is just sublime. fortitude
